England is well known for its unpredictable weather conditions, so when we finally get a few nice days, many of us are in a rush to go and sit outdoors.  But before we do we will have to give our garden furniture a good clean.  It’s amazing just how dirty it can get out there, isn’t it?  Soot, mould and creepy-crawlies always seem to be in such very good supply!

So, what is the easiest way of cleaning it all?  Tables and chairs can often have decorative bits that are really difficult to get at and it can soon turn into a pretty big job.  Well, there are a few cunning ways of getting the grime from your furniture in a minimum amount of time…

  • Hey, Sucker!

Before you do anything that involves water, you can often remove the worst of the dirt with the hose attachment on a vacuum cleaner.  If there is a brush fitting, then this can also be really useful!

  • Pipe Work.

If your furniture is metal, then blasting them over with a hosepipe is a great way of cleaning them; it will also remove any spiders at a high velocity!  You can even get special brush attachments for some hoses which will make the job even quicker.

  • Brushing Up on Your Cleaning Skills!

One of those feather dusters dipped in hot soapy water is a excellent tool for cleaning the intricate fretwork on cast iron tables or chairs.  For ultra fiddly bits, try using an old toothbrush.

I wonder why chairs get so mucky in the garden.
It makes you think how much yuck there must be in the air and what it’s doing to our lungs when we breathe it in.

Yeah, good tips!
I use a hose to clean my furniture and it makes the whole job a lot quicker and easier.
